My school just moved to a new building so that they could build us a new school. I had tables in my old building but we were unable to move with the furniture to this new building. Now we are working with one arm desks that are too big for my 12 year old students. The desks are horrible for group work and for working with math tools which fall off the desks and the students have to keep picking up their tools off the floor. Sitting at tables lends itself more to working collaboratively and functioning as small communities in the classroom. These tables will change and improve group work activities and improve mathematical discourse in each class.
