I am asking for eight sets of Boomwhackers and the Chromatic Pitches, as well as bass Octivator caps and several bass sets! These tubed percussion instruments are a favorite tool for young musicians. They allow students to directly explore how their actions impact whether a sound is musical or just noisy. My students love playing them, and they take pride in the success that they are having in making music. We have several well-loved sets of boomwhackers at school now, but not enough for all of my students to play as a whole-class ensemble. My students are learning to perfect their note-reading skills and their ability to work successfully as small and large groups. Having a sufficient supply of boomwhackers will enable them to advance both as readers and as ensembles. Adequate funding is a vital part of equitable access to success.
