Laurie Halse Anderson has created a series of three historical fiction novels that allows students to imerse themselves in our nation's history. Her series is called; The Seeds of America Triology: Chains, Forge and Ashes. Our 6th grade curriculum for Social Studies focuses on Virginia history. These novels will give them the opportunity to connect literature with history. It also allows them to understand history through the eyes of a character that is close to their ages. These novels have all won multiple awards. I would like to use these novels in my classroom to support our Book Club Groups.
