We all remember being forced to read books in school. I still have ill feeling toward Moby Dick because I was forced to read it. Research shows that by allowing students to select books they like, reading becomes enjoyable instead of a chore. Allowing students to select from a wide array of materials lets them choose books which they enjoy and takes the obligation out of reading. The goal of this book project is to have sufficient materials for students to be able to choose books they both understand and enjoy. This will cause students to engage more with a new language and provide a greater incentive to learn while exposing them to new vocabulary and language structures.
