Many of these students only hear the music that is on the radio, or played at home. Good chorale music is in short supply due to limited funds. We need to expand our horizons and build our musical ability. Hearing, studying, and performing a variety of styles is necessary to grow them into the well rounded musicians that can successfully participate in college, church and community events. The individual octavos will be in the hands of students who will learn to follow their own scores, find their own vocal part, and, eventually, become independent musicians. I want them to know what excellence sounds like, and that they can achieve it. We have the goal of becoming as comfortable reading a musical score as we are at reading a book. These students are so smart and talented that they should be using this music like a professional within eight (8) weeks. The Spring Into Singing concert will display their talent and newfound abilities, sharing their love of music with their school and their community.
