All individuals, whether they are an adult or a child, love choosing books for themselves to read. There is only one problem, as adults we know what is an appropriate book for us to read. Most of my fourth graders are not sure what is an appropriate book for them to read at this grade. Our classroom needs more reading books with a variety of topics and engagement level. I have never seen eyes get so big until you see a child's eyes light up when they get a new book in their hand. Having books that kids like to read, will make them become stronger readers and share what they have read with others. And show their families that they are a lover of books.
