In my classroom we have individual computers for my students. Each student has their own device to use in class. The class set of On Ear headphones with Boom mic will allow my students to use voice to text to write their stories, practice letter sounds to help them read, and explore so much of the world around them.
In First grade students are still struggling with their writing and language. Providing my students with the ability to express themselves and share their stories by using voice to text will open a whole new world to them. Students will be able to see their original stories created in print before their very eyes and share them with their peers and family.
Many of my students do not have opportunities to experience things outside their own immediate neighborhood. Making use of the internet will allow students to virtually visit the zoo or explore a museum. They can look up more information about the topics we are discussing in class like science, math, social studies and reading.
Recently we were learning about Flamingos and in a story we read it mentioned that baby flamingos are born white. My students were so curious about this and wanted to learn more. We went to the internet and they were able to watch a baby flamingo hatching.
