One of my key priorities as a teacher is to strengthen the family-school connection. Research shows that meaningfully involving families in learning, and specifically in homework, plays an important role in supporting children’s academic success. Family Playlists will provide me with a way to connect with families across language barriers and with greater frequency, while also receiving live data on student mastery and family participation. All families are given the opportunity to become involved, not just the few who know how to already discuss learning with their child. Completed by students and parents together during out-of-school time, Family Playlists put students in the role of the teacher, leading family members through a collaborative activity related to content they are learning in class. .
