These materials will allow me to support our school goal of improving students’ reading skills. By incorporating reading with music, students will use higher level thinking skills. They will work cooperatively in a small group to read and understand a story and work to decide what instruments to use to accompany the story. Students will be able to use classroom rhythm instruments or music created on iPads to accompany the reading of the story. The lesson will culminate with performing their group’s creation for the class. Students will learn how to work cooperatively and how to be supportive of others’ ideas.
