These tables and chairs will help my younger students feel at home in my therapy room. Within the therapy room and in the classroom a student's table or desk is the space in which they feel is their own. When students sit at their table or desk they put themselves into the physical learning space. Here they prepare themselves to learn, create, practice new skills, and build stronger relationships with their teachers and peers. Presently there are no chairs or tables that are the right size for my young preschool students. With an appropriately sized table and chairs they can have a space of their own in my room to work on their speech and language goals. Here we can sit side by side and make crafts together to practice language skills such as following directions, requesting specific objects, commenting on others' work, and taking turns when speaking. Here my students can use their developing language skills to get to know one another better and gain greater independence.
