Hurricane Harvey really affected our ability to update the technology in our classrooms to 21st century tools. When schools and homes need to be rebuilt, people don't feel comfortable investing in the future when the present is in need of repairs. My students will be able to design 3d models in my computer lab and then see those models become tangible artifacts they can actually hold in their hands and use. Beginning with simple drawings, to drafting, to CAD programs, and then converting the 2-dimensional pictures to 3-dimensional objects with a 3d printer, my students will learn that the future is truly in their hands.
