Next semester, students will continue their conversations about literature by studying contemporary Black literature. More specifically, students will have the opportunity to choose one of several different examples of recent Young Adult Fiction. We are requesting a class set of the book All American Boys. The titles that students can choose from among (All American Boys, Dear Martin, and The Hate U Give) will comprise a text set that will let students explore themes such as identity, race, and social justice at their pace and reading level. During this unit where we read All American Boys, students will work both independently and with their reading group in order to create a number of different projects that analyze their chosen text.
