Equipment like rhythmic ribbons will not only allow my students to express themselves creatively through movement but for some of my students, these ribbons can help strengthen eye tracking, purposeful movement of arms and legs, and trunk and head control. There are so many different ways to increase skills (physical, social, and cognitive skills) through movement! All the equipment will allow my students to practice skills in their own way to the maximum ability of each child, building upon their unique skills, natural and taught. An increase in physical skills allows a child to grow into a physically literate adult, who has choices and knowledge to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. Children also develop social skills through movement and cooperation activities provided in Physical Education that can transfer into the home, career, and sports teams. All of my students, no matter the ability, can utilize all the equipment and learn through movement!
