The materials and resources that I am requesting will help my students improve their academic learning goals. Some of the basic materials like pencils, paper, and pens are an everyday necessity and I want to make sure that my students can have access to these items without the embarrassment of making an outward request. The card stock paper is great for projects across the curriculum when they have to illustrate a story. I allow my students to use pens to grade their own work to receive immediate feedback on an assignment. They know exactly what they missed and can make the necessary corrections or ask questions. The scholastics news will provide my students with high interest stories and will help make them aware of what is going on around the world. By donating to our project, Up, Up, and Away We Go, you will help my classroom become a change agent by venturing away from the thought that only parents are responsible for student supplies. These materials will make a difference by helping students realize that schools and teachers are here to help them succeed. We want to keep what is best for students as our focus by helping, then build their confidence and increase their motivation to succeed. Students will use their notepads and journals to identify the main idea and write a narrative. Sometimes my students create visuals for stories they read with the card stock paper and this lends to a greater understanding of the text. Finally, the Story Activity workbook will provide my students with high interest and on grade level text to improve fluency, reading comprehension, and increased love for reading. Our students will view school as a learning institution because their basic needs are provided for them to be successful.
