Flexible seating allows for student choice and optimizes their learning environment. By giving students the freedom to choose their seating, we are giving them control of their own personal space as well as the comfort to learn in seat that fits them best. Ensuring that students are comfortable is a key factor in motivating them. Flexible seating lends to a more collaborative and interesting classroom. My goal is to create dynamic seating choices that allows student movement without distraction. Movement that provides an outlet for those who need to squirm, wiggle, or bounce. Right now, we have just a few choices of seating. Many of our students choose to stand, lay on the floor, or sit away from their desks. The products I have chosen have a wide variety of seating possibilities. In addition to the two bean bag chairs we already have, which are a huge hit, the wobble stools, balls, and seat stands will add to the much needed variety in our class. The freedom to not have a stationary desk, but a seat that can be moved to engage in partner, group, or independent work is an exciting possibility. We will still keep some traditional desks and chairs for those who prefer them.
