The materials I am requesting for this project will help my students explore computer science and coding in a fun and engaging way! During my weekly STEAM class students will be able to use the Osmo and Dash robot to complete hands-on coding challenges that connect to their core curriculum. Donations to this project will allow for my students to learn the 21st century skill of coding and computer science in a fun and engaging way! I have already started planning lessons for my students to complete with the Dash robots and Osmo! I can imagine a math lesson that my students will need to code their Dash robot to follow angles and lines! I can just hear my students' excitement when they discover "Did you know that a square has four right angles!!" I can also imagine a map lesson in which my students will need to code their Dash robot to follow ancient trade routes and collect "goods" from each port! Osmo will also be magical to my students to see their block coding come to life on their tablets. By exposing my students to coding and robotics it will help them gain the confidence to pursue future STEM courses and possible careers.
