I teach 10 extremely creative, inspiring, hardworking, and energetic students! The students at my school live in a rural district in North Carolina and seventy-two percent receive free or reduced lunch. My students are in grades 6th-11th and are following the North Carolina Extended Content Course of Study. This curriculum is adapted from the general course of study for students with significant cognitive impairments in North Carolina. My students have mild to severe intellectual disabilities, speech and language disorders, physical disabilities, autism, and epilepsy. One of the largest struggles my students have is with communication. My students are very energetic about school and want to learn. They LOVE books and any hands on activities. My students have wonderful families that are very supportive.
