The products I have chosen will provide my students with additional challenging exercises as they continue to progress in reading. These activities will serve as a key component in our daily reading centers and will continue to enhance the literacy rich environment that I strive to create. They will provide unique practice based on the various needs of the learners in my classroom. One of the most essential kindergarten skills is recognizing letters and knowing letter sounds. 'Alphabet Learning Locks' will allow them to practice learning letters independently with immediate reinforcement when they match the uppercase letter to the lowercase letter correctly. These skills will set the foundation for the rest of their academic careers; therefore, it is essential that they have access to these meaningful tools. These products will provide my students with interactive, hands-on activities which will keep them engaged with this crucial content. Most of my students are not able to practice these skills at home because their families are also English learners. Thus, it is critical to their success that they have many modes to access the information while at school. One of the products I chose, 'English Language Development Skill-Building Centers', will provide my students with different ways to learn new English vocabulary, build sentences, and practice their reading comprehension skills. An example of one of the products I have chosen are 'Sight-Word Puzzles'. These puzzles are designed to permit students to progress onto newer levels of sight word lists, once they have mastered the current list. Sight words account for up to 75% of the words used in beginning children’s printed material. Therefore, learning sight words is instrumental to becoming literate. Despite all the obstacles my students face, they have improved in their English language acquisition, however, this project will enhance that growth tremendously.
