These tools will help me teach academic and social skills to first grade students. 6 year old children are like sponges in the aspect of learning- they soak everything in. By utilizing tablets in the classroom, I can get more of my students accessing curriculum and need driven websites that are tailored to each of my students' individual needs. Math manipulatives help children visualize what we are learning, and the ten frames and number lines will do precisely that. Legos and building blocks are just as vital to a strong foundation at this age. These tools set the stage for team collaboration, and encourage social skills to begin developing beyond what I'm teaching explicitly in the classroom. With all of these great supplies comes a need for storage. The storage unit that is included here will provide enough storage for all of these supplies and current supplies so everything is organized in one centralized location for the students. Snacks are also on the list as a need because I work in a title 1 school with more than half of my students coming from poverty. We eat early in the morning, and by afternoon, these children are in dire need of a snack before going back home.
