My students and I run a cafe restaurant for the school where people come in for a sit-down meal. The students cook and serve all the meals. By having the students wear professional chef jackets to provide uniforms for students, this allows me to provide the look and feel of professionalism in a safe learning environment. The table cloths will allow for the restaurant to also feel professional and inviting. This will progress the learning of culinary arts beyond the kitchen and into the service and management aspect of restauranteering. The professional chef jackets and the table linens will allow me to prepare my culinary students to be professionals in an ever growing nad highly competitive work environment. In an ever growing field that offers unique experiences and farm to table food, staying on top of food trends is a must, even at the high school level. I try to always present a professional working environment that does its best to mimic real workplace kitchens. This helps keep them stay competitive and desirable to hire. I also have 2 competition teams, one is a culinary team and the other is the management team. They build a restaurant concept, develop a menu, design the restaurant layout, create a work chart and a design a marketing plan. This team won the national competition beating 42 other teams representing other schools from around the country. Both teams need office supplies to help present their final versions of the menus and restaurant concepts to the judges at the state and national competitions. The presentation folders will help to keep the information clean and organize while the dividers will help to delineate the required parts of the booklets to present to the judges.
