Math is woven into almost everything we do in our classroom. The Daily Math Fluency kit includes awesome math maniuplatives and books of Number Talks and Math Strings. We often start our day with number talks. Number talks are short discussions between me and the students aimed at building their number sense. One child answers a question and explains how they got their answer and lightbulbs go off for other students. The kids have learned so much from one another just by listening to their friend's mathematical thinking. My kindergarteners love talking about math! They are becoming experts at solving problems in multiple ways. They are beginning to understand the relationships between numbers and making all kinds of connections. I am so excited to have these new resources in our classroom!
