If this project is funded, I will install the listening center in our classroom to provide the students with the opportunity to read along with and listen to recorded books. It will provide the children with an additional opportunity to track text, develop sight word recognition, and expand their reading, written, and spoken vocabularies. Students will also experience opportunities to develop cooperation skills as they are seated in close proximity to one another and will have to work together to share the responsibilities of successfully managing and operating the listening center. My students are in need of additional fluency practice and this listening station will allow students to read along with a fluent read and observe how that reader uses punctuation marks to guide their reading rate and tone. These are essential skills for these leaders of our next generation to acquire!
