First graders are full of energy and excitement. I want to create an environment where students feel free and comfortable to learn. Students benefit from choice of learning space and ability to move. When students are given the chance to make choices based on their learning needs, the classroom becomes theirs. This gives students a sense of ownership and enables them to become invested in their learning. Inflatable cushion seats and wobble stools are just a few tools that will allow students to learn in an environment that allows them to move. A classroom full of desks and chairs may support an environment of compliance, however, I want my classroom to promote an environment of collaboration and community-building. With choice of seating and active learning, students will feel a sense of authentic learning and success.
