The wiggle cushions will provide each student with a comfortable way to move while learning. Students have shared a borrowed wiggle cushion in my room, which has since been returned. When students used the wiggle seat, I noticed how the students are able to focus on lessons, while also still moving their bodies. In class, students are given the opportunity to work on the floor with lap boards or at other tables. With these cushions, students can still choose a flexible seating location and take their cushions with them. I am planning a class poetry jam for January where students can use their cushions while watching classmates present their favorite poems. With a class set of the book "Hate That Cat" by Sharon Creech, students will be able to read and share this verse novel. They will also be exposed to poets such as William Carlos Williams and Walter Dean Meyers. This funny and warm hearted novel will help inspire the students to write their own poetry. Our Winter Poetry Jam is sure to be a huge success with your help!
