Students in my classroom come from diverse backgrounds. These books will be added to our classroom library to show students more characters that they can identify with. These books have diversity in the ethnicities and cultures represented. There are also different problems that the characters must overcome that may not be common problems in other books that students usually read. Students who can build connections with the books that they are reading are more interested in continuing to read. I will use these books to help students become lifelong readers. I want my students to love reading so that they continue to read throughout their lives.
