My students have multiple disabilities and allowing them to have the option to move around in the classroom will encourage them to be more engaged in their learning. I have requested different chairs because they are effective and appropriate for group activities as well as for activities that require quiet, solitary work and comfortable seating for break times as well. I'll be creating a space in my classroom where students will be able to take a break when needed and they can utilize these chairs. I have also requested a peapod, this is a sensory calming station which applies deep pressure to help calm children with sensory processing disorders. My hope is that by changing the physical space and seating of my classroom that it will directly lead to a change on student behavior and make learning more effective.
