Flexible seating is important in order to meet the needs of my diverse learners. Flexible seating options will allow my students to find comfortable positions throughout the classroom, resulting in calm, focused and productive learners. The result is higher preacademic achievement. Flexible seating is essentially differentiated seating. My students will practice autonomy by choosing the varied seating options. Additionally, students who need the sensory input will demonstrate improved focus. Improved focus will develop their ability to process information. Many students with ADHD, ADD and ASD appreciate the flexible seating option. Flexible seating will allow my students to bounce, lean, twist, kick, fidget, roll and sit to suit their individual needs.
