My students are Seniors at a small charter high school in California. Our students come from some of the most violent and dangerous neighborhoods within our city. It's not rare for one of our students to leave home at 5:30 in the morning just to catch the bus to school. However, it is this resolve that makes our school so special. Currently, we are one of the top performing high schools in California, achieving higher state test scores than many of the wealthier, larger public schools in the area. My seniors are special. Not only are 100% of my seniors applying to colleges and universities this fall, but 100% of them plan on attending college next fall. These students work tirelessly with the limited resources they have to better their situations.
