The best books bring adventures and the "ah-ha" moments of learning. These particular sets of books will help teach priceless lessons. In a school where a quarter of the students are diverse learners, the set of books on differing abilities will spark specific conversations and questions about special education. The set of multicultural books helps continue my mission of having a classroom library that represents diversity, by showing characters and stories that are painfully underrepresented. I increasingly want my students to see themselves in the books they read. In my classroom, books are used for whole-group read-alouds, for small-group centers, and for independent reading. Having books to read and hold, makes for a nice break in student's technology-driven days and creates special moments as student form bonds with the characters, stories, and the physical books. Please help me give my students an opportunity to develop a love of reading.
