We don't have the necessary materials to actively engage in good conversations about reading. I buy 95% of my books for my students. I buy the books they want to read, so they build that love of learning. Who doesn't love when someone reads to you. The emotion in your voice and the depth of understanding. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and To Kill a Mockingbird capture those details while grasping their hearts and love of reading, while teaching them about the difficulties people faced in our past. It allows me to integrate Social Studies and Reading together to captivate my students.
