Enrique's Journey is an incredibly moving true story. It's about a young boy's attempt to reach his mother living in the United States from his home in Honduras. His journey - most of it atop a freight train - is filled with peril. Our students crave books which speak to them and their experiences and which compliment the countries and concepts they are studying in Human Geography. I - and the three other Lit & Comp 9 teachers at my school - will teach this book as a part of a unit on Latin America and Immigration. We need 60 more copies to ensure we each have a class set of 40 to work with. After we are done using them, the books will be available to other teachers in the building and district.
