Literacy is an important component of learning. There is nothing like a book in a child’s hand to teach them to love to read and appreciate the authors and illustrators who bring the stories to life. Art and literacy go hand in hand. As a teacher, I like to connect literacy and art. Having books as a resource would improve motivation, success, skill as an artist, and ability. These children’s books, A Pair of Socks: Matching, Pigeon (6 Bk Set) and Lots of Spots would give my students the opportunity to have a classroom library to access in the art room. Building a classroom library would be a wonderful opportunity to have physical books in their hands as they study compare, contrast, critique, and study illustrations to develop their own artistic styles.
