Soft skills continues to be an area of concerns when employers are asked about the current and future workforce (Weaver & Osterman, 2017). In this project, students will receive only the instructions, without any inclination of what the item is that they are to build. Students will then use their technical reading skills to follow the instructions and create the wind power kit. Once the kits are created, the class will then work in an interdisciplinary fashion by testing each kit for correct assembly and functionality in a lab fashion, outdoors. The Wind Turbine Science Kit will allow students to use their mechanical skills and technical reading skills to assemble the kits.
