Many of my students are struggling readers. Often knowing that they have to read any of Shakespeare’s work sends them into shut down mode. My students have the love for learning, but they are often discouraged by the length of a text or the reputation of an author. No Fear Shakespeare phrases the words in a way that students understand, but the No fear Shakespeare graphic novel takes this tool to a whole new level. My students will benefit from having a visual representation of what is going on in the text because many often get lost in the text’s classical words and phrases. A graphic novel shows and tells the reader what is going on in story. This is especially important for struggling readers. Furthermore, students who need a greater challenge will use the graphic novel to analyze and compare to the original text. In short, all my students will benefit immensely from having the No Fear Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet graphic novel.
