As a teacher of mathematics, I have discovered that students grasp concepts and are eager to explore ideas deeper when they have the ability to collaborate together. I want to help my students develop a passion for mathematics as well as find relevance in the mathematical concepts that we teach in the classroom. Offering a non-traditional seating arrangement allows me to provide opportunities for collaboration, one-on-one instruction, small group instruction as well as a whole-class instruction. Teaching high school requires a focus on real-world application so that students maintain interest in the subject. I hope to utilize these tables so that students gain vital skills in communication as well as collaboration.
