With the help of these dictionaries, my 8th Grade on level students will have the opportunity to take their vocabulary to a higher level- using new words in correct context, finding alternative words (synonyms) to express themselves, and simply making sense of new or unfamiliar words as we come across them in texts. When my students know that my expectations are high, that I believe in them, and they have the necessary resources available, they excel. This is why this project is so important. Additionally, providing kids with a variety of books to pick and choose from not only increases the likelihood that they’ll read but also that they’ll enjoy it. And that’s my goal! I want my students to be lovers of words.
