My scholars are easily triggered due to their history of trauma and often need a safe place to reset. These sensory items will allow scholars to calm down in the "Take a Break" corner. Kinetic items are extremely effective for calming students down and legos seem to be very popular among my scholars as well. Occasional breaks allow my scholars to get refocused. These items will help get them ready to learn again. These items will also accompany my current bean bag chair which gives the scholars alternative seating to calm down. I have seen cool downs work with another teacher I work with and typically send my scholars to her rather than sending my scholars to my own calming corner.
