The effects of Hurricane Harvey still continue to affect my students at the most basic levels. Many of my students lack the basic necessities, like pencils and paper. With everything else that goes on in my students' lives, simple school supplies should not interfere with their education. My goal is to make the classroom as stress free as possible to promote a positive learning environment. Although it takes time to rebuild, my students deserve an individualized learning experience. With the supplies I choose, my students will be able to use headphones to participate in individual technology applications. Since my classroom is writing based and I do as much as possible to integrate technology into their learning environment, a printer to print out student create work to post around the classroom would contribute to student motivation and pride in their work. Additionally, students struggle to find background knowledge to connect to their work; a printer would allow students to print graphics and other resources that could be used to build background knowledge for their writing.
