Our sensory room would provide a therapeutic space with a variety of equipment to help our children develop and engage their senses so they are better prepared for learning and interacting with others. Our hope is to see a decrease in negative behaviors and an increase in motivation. This room will provide students with the opportunity for active learning through a multi-sensory approach and/or provide a safe, quiet room to calm their body. A bouncing ball and trampoline would provide full body input and would be in the active area, the bubble tube will be located in the quiet area and adds to the relaxing environment with calming visuals and sounds. Students may bring a book or a quiet activity into this area, lie in a beanbag chair, and just relax as they organize themselves and prepare to go back to class.
