The concept behind this project is to provide a micro-enterprise opportunity for the students in my program. They would be responsible for setting up and managing a small business in the school building, which is such a fantastic way for them to learn and internalize new skills! They would be able to order and maintain an ongoing inventory. The students would need to market and advertise their business in order to encourage sales. The students would be able to learn how to properly clean and maintain the coffee makers, toaster oven, blender, and all related equipment and work-space. They will be able to transfer these skills into a wide-range of additional educational and career opportunities as they move forward. The profits generated will be reinvested into the business, with any surplus going into supporting other community and service-based opportunities for the students.
