The students at my high school sit in the same type of chair classroom to classroom. Many of my students work better when they are able to move around the classroom, stand while working, or sit a little more comfortably to learn. The ability to have a kinesthetic classroom will allow for more students to be able to learn how they learn best. Students' increased engagement and ability to focus will result in academic success. The alternative seating will allow the students to move around the room and feel most comfortable while learning. The multiple alternative seating opportunities; including standing desks, wobble disks, and chairs that move, will improve our classroom engagement by increasing student strength and stability and allowing for movement to help students stay on task. On top of the alternative seating, I try to create a calmer atmosphere for my students. The fluorescent lights create a very harsh light. Having the fluorescent covers will create a more soothing ambiance for my students.
