Our public high school barely has a 1 to 1 computer to student ratio. Unfortunately, as a result, teachers have been moving two computer carts from classroom to classroom. This has been such an inconvenience. These iPads would be the best right now to allow for our scholars to have more access.
Our ELL scholars could be utilizing iPads to use apps like Duolingo which makes inquiring skills faster. Also, we know how students with services with reading difficulties benefit immensely from eBooks with bigger texts. And, lastly our AP students do an immense amount of research on scholarly journal databases, so we know they need to access to Wifi. However, these scholars cannot access technology the last period of the day because the computers need to charge.
We are low with our funding budget this year due to students having to move because of high rent prices. Hence, we are reaching out to the community. Our scholars must be equipped with the learning tools they need if we want them to continue to be amazing world leaders to strengthen our society in the future.
What makes our school unique and incredible? We actively recruit students who were traditionally left behind by the educational system or feel disenchanted by learning. Hence, the power of iPads and our mission tie hand in hand. Research has shown that using iPads in the classroom increases a growth mindset. By providing such resources, we will empower our scholars to take pride in their learning. This is due to the fact that the iPad shifts the control of their education from the teacher to the students. Thanks in advance for helping future first generation college graduates!
