We will use both book selection for book club. Each book club selection is used in tandem with an International Baccalaureate Leaner profile. For instance, Communication profile will include the Quiet: Power of Introverts reading selection. The Principled profile will include the selection The Hate U Give. Each book will be read by students outside of school and not by assignment. We will then meet for a luncheon in the library and students will discuss important connections and questions they made while reading the book. Later the books will be catalogued to the library for student-led book clubs or teacher-led classroom readings. I am excited to read these great books with my students and add to my school's resources at the same time. These books are transdisciplinary and can be used for many content areas looking for interdisciplinary crossovers.
