With a love for teaching, I am always looking for ways to enhance the learning environment of our classroom. Our district has recently adapted The New Common Core Standards which places a significant emphasis on using many different strategies to teach curriculum. However, it has been a challenge obtaining the tools needed to teach these standards. Many of my students live in a low socioeconomic part of the city and significant number of them are on free or reduced meal programs. However, they are hard-working and capable first graders who want to learn. We need support from donors to excel and to thrive! Our classroom is an environment where appreciation and performing random acts of kindness is an important part of the learning process.
