My classroom consists of twenty-four first graders with a wide variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as, English language learners and children that have qualified for gifted and talented. I have a very hyperactive bunch that require hands-on activities to keep them engaged in learning. They love working in small collaborative groups to play educational games or achieve a provided goal. Due to a wide range of ability levels, I conduct guided reading and guided math groups each day. This allows me time to pull students in a smaller setting and individualize instruction.
