As a whole grade level, we will be doing a novel study on the book ¨Wonder¨ by R.J. Palacio. We will be delving into the book together and discussing the themes of celebrating who we are and being open to those around us. We need 30 student copies of the book so that all kids will have access to the literature as we study it together. As we read together, we will integrate the arts as we study the artist Kimmy Cantrell´s work and have the kids create a mask inspired by both the book and the artist. The clay and paints will allow the students to create abstract portraits of themselves, representing their own unique qualities.
