My students come from disadvantaged backgrounds and face many obstacles. They come to school each day ready to learn, quietly enthusiastic. I would use the technology to make my Social Studies curriculum come alive, while teaching strong writing skills. Many of my students are learning the English language, and having access to Google Classroom and Google Docs as well as Microsoft Word would help make the learning experience more authentic. Having dedicated laptops means projects and the Internet are at their fingertips -- and I can prepare my students as best I can for the future by being technologically literate. My students deserve the advantages that students in the suburbs have each and every day.
