The hot plate and stirrer unit will help my students study how various parameters affect the rate of a chemical reaction. This is one more building block in their understanding of all facets of a chemical reaction. By contributing to my project you will help bring to life the chemical reactions that my students will perform. This unit will help their understanding of many reaction types, including acid base reactions, where contents have to be stirred and solutions have to be transferred carefully. The pipette bulbs will also be put to great use by all my students when they perform acid base titrations. The use of a hot plate and stirrer enhances many chemical processes that my students perform at all levels. Advanced chemistry students will use the unit to study equilibrium and kinetics of reactions, while first year students will investigate solubility and separations. The hot plate unit, along with the stir bars and bulbs will be valuable tools, helping students to make connections, problem solve, and grow as learners.
