High interest books are always needed to help pique the interest of students who avoid reading. Those students who enjoy reading constantly need new selections (and these students often motivate others who might otherwise read only when it is required of them). We are requesting sets of books for book clubs. Our titles include The Hate U Give, All American Boys, A Long Walk to Water: Based on a True Story and more. Starting a book club will help me gear my students towards loving books. As a teacher, I want to help students love reading and show them they can travel the world through books. My goal is to shift the cultural of reading and to move students to actually be excited about BOOKS! This is something that is lacking in our school and I believe it's time to change gears.
