A portion of my students need lower-level reading practice to meet their goals of being readers by the end of third grade. Some of my students come to me as emergent readers. However, third grade classrooms are stocked with libraries that are intimidating to emergent readers. This project will give my early readers a place to pick books that aren't intimidating, with fewer words on a page and lots of picture support. These books will give them the opportunity to practice reading at their level and give them the confidence to tackle grade-level material. I know my students will appreciate and persevere in their reading development with this special gift.
